The purpose of Slack is to communicate within the KidSpirit staff through one consistent forum. KidSpirit has other software for monitoring and assigning tasks, keeping records, and dealing with financial matters, so Slack is specifically meant for communication.
Log on to Slack and make sure you are on the KidSpirit group “osukidspirit.slack.com”. To add a channel, click on the word “Channels” to see the full list of channels. For each relevant channel on the list below, click on the channel name and it will take you to a preview. Then click the “Join Channel” button.

Regularly check/ read messages – especially those with @mentions to you or @channel
If a response is required, respond in a thread and tag whoever you are responding to
If a reaction is required, add a reaction of your choice
When sending messages, think carefully about what channel it is in and how @mentions and @channels are used. @channel should only be used when every person in the channel needs to urgently see the message.
In order to keep Slack easy to understand and organized, it is important to format messages in a unified format. It is also essential to keep communication public as much as possible. If a message can be sent in a relevant channel rather than a personal slack message, this is essential to the flow of communication within KidSpirit. The following format should be used for all messages in Slack:
[Whom message concerns], [message content]. Provide a reaction once [action] (if applicable). [Tags of relevant people @top_hat etc].
Example: Hello Office Staff! A new list of tasks have been added to Wrike, and each of you are assigned to certain tasks. Please provide a reaction once you have seen your assigned task and deadline. Thank you! @jessicaschaub @itos @marshall.mary.k
