You are to be present and on time for all meetings, trainings, and shifts. Any deviation will negatively affect your performance evaluations and could lead to termination. While we understand that emergency circumstances arise, we ask that you give us as much warning as possible in case of lateness or absence.
Clocking in late (1 minute after you were scheduled to clock in) without previous notification of an unavoidable occurrence is considered a late arrival.
Any combination of three unplanned absences may result in termination or probation. Two late arrivals = one unplanned absence
Failure to ask for a day off prior to the first week of classes.
In the case of an emergency, less than 24 hours’ notice to leadership.
Failure to be present for shift with no warning.
Leadership notification the first week of the term during the school year and before the first week of camp during the summer and an attempt to find a substitute if needed.
Proper completion and submission of ‘Time-Off Requests.’
All time-off must be requested at the beginning of the term/summer. Any request for time off after you have submitted your pre-term request that IS NOT an emergency will not be guaranteed. This means anything other than a family or medical emergency, including all doctors/dentist appointments, vacations, events, etc. To request any needed time-off that was not in your pre-term request, please Slack the date/time that you need off, as well as a brief explanation for your request. Please post your request to the #02request-schedule-change channel.
Example:
"I would like to request the entire day of June 29th off, as I have scheduled a doctors appointment for 12pm in Portland."
Once posted on Slack, KidSpirit Leadership will do their best to accommodate your request, and will inform you if it has been approved/disapproved.
If you are sick and think you might miss work, you need to slack the #02request-schedule-change channel ASAP.
You should notify KidSpirit 24 hours before your scheduled shift. If Leadership does not receive confirmation from you via slack or phone that you are feeling better and able to work the next day by 5:00pm we will officially sub you out.
Traditionally staff are given three official warnings before further action is taken. Warnings are given for:
Tardiness
Late Lesson Plans
Late Progress Reports
Calling in sick less than 24 hours in advance
Not showing up for a shift
Not completing certifications or other training assignments by the deadline
Infraction of other KidSpirit Policies
Staff may receive an official write-up and conversation after three infractions or warnings during a term. Staff may also receive a write-up for misconduct severe enough to forgo warnings.
A verbal and documented warning will be given with specific goals to correct behavior within a reasonable timeline.
If inappropriate behavior continues (behavior which resulted in verbal warning), a written warning will be given with specific goals to correct behavior within a reasonable timeline.
If behavior fails to meet the agreed upon corrective action, the result will be termination or probation (situational).
Three (3) write-ups given due to missed shifts will result in termination.
