Now Look at You

Juliette Shipp is an NYC based singer/songwriter. Coming from a background of R&B, Pop, soul, and Jazz, Juliette is breaking into the R&B scene with her debut EP “Oshome”, a collection of self-written and produced songs about her trials in love, released in 2019. She is currently a student at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and is set to graduate in May, 2020. Most recently, she was selected to perform in Paris at the Parsons Paris benefit Gala in January, 2020. She is currently working on her new EP, “Feelin’ Free” with the release date TBA. Her sound is a mix of soulful vocals and rap with R&B/ Pop tracks. Her songs include a range of emotional piano and vocal ballad to trap/hip-hop beats on which she combines singing and rapping. The vocal production is rich with vocal harmonies and thick vocal stacks, as she took a lot of inspiration from the vocal production on Ariana Grande’s albums “Sweetener” and “Thank U, Next” in which the melodies incorporate many harmonies and vocal textures. Her vocal sound on my new project, “Feelin’ Free” utilizes jazzy vocal inflections with pop technique and hip/hop phrasing. She would describe the sound of my new project as sassy, confident, melodic, and intimate.

The subject matter of the songs from “Feelin’ Free” covers topics such as friendships, family, romantic relationships, making money, sex, sexual freedom, being true to herself, feeling confident and insecure, and being a female BO$$. The objective of this project is to help WomXn feel empowered, capable, and in control of their lives. Her goal is to help young Womxn accept and appreciate all of themselves and through her music. She hopes to show that we are multifaceted and do not need to be put in one box, and can honor all sides of ourselves.
