ELECTROSHOCK:

When Music Meets Live Cinema

Elena Bogomolova is a Russian-born, New York-based moving image artist. She pursues BA in Visual and Media studies in Eugene Lang college at The New School. She works with musical beats, rhythm, image distortion and repetition, transforming it into augmented reality. Her background in film gave her a solid editing foundation that allowed her to work on multiple creative projects such as narrative films, event shoots and artists’ profiles. After experimenting in different roles, she discovered a unique editing technique - VJ’ing. As an avid electronic dance music (EDM) lover, she realized a passion for visualizing beats and vibrations into an abstract vision. She learned to transform programing language into a moving image, which later brought her to an idea of chromesthesia; sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color. Her current project is dedicated to living editing visual effects in real-time. A DDJ-SR2 controller that allows to manipulate video content and overlay it with different effects. His name is Erik by the way.
