Egg Work

I’m a girl from Chicago, to put it simply. I’m interested in learning how to get from point A to point B. Through a series of learned and repeated gestures. What do I have to do to get there? I like to work with new habits, routines and the idea of changing your day to day and sticking with it. This is how we learn choreography or a new skill. This is how we become more caring and considerate people. This is how we change our personal styles. And this is how I become/became a woman. I look into the slight variations in our movements through the world, and I like to ask questions about what we repeat and why. I tell stories that are articulated through gestures (as any artist does), with special attention to performing choreographies of the everyday. I accompany these choreographies with other media such as sounds and sculptures to create an experience for my audiences. I explore things like love and gender through scenes of contact and tenderness between bodies, often incorporating found objects and found feelings (from the performers or myself) into the work. I value a certain softness when I make a piece, which feels important to balance with the heavier materials that might come up.
