My project took the form of a travel memoir from a trip I took through Europe last summer. Through the writing, I strived to answer these questions that followed me through my experiences: what was I running from? And why do I feel so much more at home away from home?

How has this project has been impactful or transformative?

The capstone grant allowed me to keep exploring with a new perspective. I felt a huge contrast between my original trip and the story that I was trying to tell from that trip versus going abroad again in search of the story. This distinction was really interesting and gave me more to explore in approaches to craft.

What would you do differently?

A little more organization on my part would have been helpful.

Short summary of your experience:

My experience took a lot of reflecting on past and current adventures. I traveled through Europe on my own, looking for community, searching for adrenaline and belonging. Through the writing process, I aimed to make sense of my impulses.
