Traces

Sofia Pace is a New York based visual and performing artist of Peruvian and Italian origins. Her early learning of art and design set her foundational interest for space and how it can function meaningfully and artistically through installation and set design, while her latter research and creative work have driven her to seek, recognize, and explore connections between visual art and performance. Furthermore, whereas her early learnings of Ballet and Peruvian folklorist dances established in adulthood her interest in Latin American art, her latter introduction to Contemporary and Jazz dance practices, further facilitated her survey of her personal history and culture through themes of the inner, the body, and the self in both her written and creative work. In her recent artistic work, she has started to explore ways the ‘still’ photograph can convey and portray the dynamic movement of the body in altered and stimulating ways by tracing corporeality with the use of light, rendering the body abstract in shape but real in motion.
