Medicine Cabinet:
An Ode to Psycho-Pharmaceuticals

I have watched an exponential growth in the discourse of the mind and the medications that help to create an easier life and the ease in which many can speak about their brains and what they’re struggling with. I want to celebrate this with a composition, a composition dedicated to these medications, making an aural soundscape of their cognitive effects on the brain. I’ve chosen four drugs: Lexapro, Lithium, Vyvanse and Klonopin. After heftily delving into their mechanics through research, case studies, and interviews I will be taking my research and transcribing it though musical pieces. Thank you to Clara Latham and my incredible seminar colleagues for helping me sculpt these pieces and allowing a furthered conversation into mental health.
