Tagalog, literally translated to "child"

This work is an excerpted version of a larger ongoing project that explores my unique personal experiences as a child of a Filipino immigrant. This time based performance addresses how being raised in the United States presents its own unique challenges; culturally, politically, and economically. This project explores these ideas from multiple entry points including academic literature and sounds from my mother's kitchen. Although I draw from my own specific story, this work speaks to a larger phenomenon that is a fundamental part to an entire culture.
