Sell Well: Performance, Practice, and the Modern Wellness Industry in America

Grace Spanbock is a Los Angeles based person who believes everyone should have the agency to feel good about their personal wellbeing. Her study focuses on how we engage with the visual world. As everyday lives become inundated with new visual information, many find taking care, in any way possible, necessary to a happy or stable life. Though for many it may just be palliative, wellness, at its core, attempts to give its practitioner agency over their own health. Many even find practices and products via the visual world of social media, due to its accessibility and consistency. Sell Well uses this as an opportunity to remind its public that wellness is personal and achievable in active practice. By using the visual vernacular of the modern world of wellness, Sell Well attempts to expand the meaning of wellness, while remaining accessible.

With 12 instructive practices available, in both audio recording by artist, Grace Spanbock, and handwritten, original documents, Sell Well offers the opportunity to try new forms of self-care. Each practice is offered at $10,000, a small price to pay for a healthier and happier you!* The audio recordings serve as examples of how a new body breathes life into a performance of wellness, whose intimate beginnings may or may not achieve the same level of success in this new body and life. We encourage you to try these practices as well as work on recognizing them in your own life, and taking an active role in your practice of them.

*All practices are available for free on this website.
