Lang Arts Senior Work

Misc.

As a San Francisco raised and Brooklyn based photographer, my work tends to center around the qualities maintained by various aesthetic specificities of an individual in relation to the context of one's location. I have always been interested in how the subject interacts with the camera as a tool that magnifies ones persona and is able to freeze a direct moment in time. Through this collection of images this project aims to focus on the landscape of construction and deconstruction of people and places against the history of photography itself. I wanted to focus on the ebb and flow of people in New York, and other metropolitan areas, and how they are able to disseminate themselves into the images of current social situations. New York is a place in where there has been constant evolution through means of style, trends, traits, and passions. Throughout this project I want to emphasis the portrait as a glimpse into the story of ones own life, specifically examining how people interact with their surroundings. This series as a whole is meant to represent the ambiguity of every individual we encounter as miscellaneous subjects whose exterior narratives can be captures through the apparatus of a camera.
