Behind the Conversation

"Behind the Conversation" is a podcast project whose ultimate goal was to explore how an academic understanding of the cultural institution can, and does, translate into real life action and livelihood. Isabella Potapenko, a first generation American, has struggled with finding a way to incorporate her love for the art world into her "real life". Having been raised by a community which values security, the art world has always seemed like a distance dream. After multiple attempts at finishing her BA degree in Visual Studies with a Minor is Museum Work and Curation, Isabella is now at a place where she believes that the most valuable thing an arts education can give you is the knowledge not only to explore ideologies, but also the courage to stand up for the values that she believes the art world should reflect. Behind the Conversation gives insight to ways in which, sometimes, asking questions can lead to an understanding that inspires action.
