Slinky's can be used to demonstrate longitudinal and transverse waves as well as wave pulses and wave interference. There are several slinky's available so this demonstration may be done by the instructor or interactively by the students (depending on the class size).

Setup:
Place the slinky's on the lab table.
Create the different type of waves by shaking the slinky parallel (longitudinal) or perpendicular (transverse) to it.
Send multiple waves to see interference or standing waves. This may need an additional volunteer.
