This demonstration show the atomic spectrum of various elements. There are several gas discharge tubes available that when excited by the power supply, give off atomic spectra. The spectra can be viewed with diffraction gratings. A chart of spectra for some elements is also available.
Setup:
Place the requested spectrum tubes in power supplies on the table.
Place the diffraction gratings on the table.
Look at the illuminated tube through the diffraction grating to view the spectrum. It may appear off to the side.
The gases available are Hydrogen, Helium, Neon, Nitrogen, and Mercury.
