This demonstration shows a radioactive source and its detection. The plate is coated in Uranium Oxide which gives it the orange color. Using a Geiger Counter you can hear the detection of radioactive particles (alpha in this case). The Altimeter was manufactured for use during World War II. The paint contains radium which emits alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.

Setup:
Place the sources and the Geiger Counter on the demo table.
Turn the dial on the Geiger Counter to the x10 setting and turn the Audio on.
Bring the detector near the sources to hear the counts of radioactive particles.
