This demonstration clearly conveys total internal reflection. If a laser is shined in one end of the light pipe, it stays inside due to total internal reflection and can be seen vividly at the other end.

Setup:
Place the light pipe and laser on the lab table. If requested, setup the webcam to view the system with the projector.
Shine the laser in one end of the light pipe to see total internal reflection and the other end of the light pipe illuminated.
Notes:
Be careful not to point the laser at anyone or look directly into the beam.
May need to be performed in a darkened room.
