This demonstration shows how light behaves when passing through multiple slits. When the laser is shined at the slits an interference pattern can be seen on the viewing screen. This can be done with two, three, four, or five slits.
Setup:
Place the ring stand on the lab table with laser and multiple slit plate. Setup a viewing screen in front of this system. Connect the webcam to the projector and set it up to show the viewing screen. Align the laser to hit the requested slit.
Turn on the laser and view the interference pattern on the viewing screen. There are options of two, three, four, or five slits that can be used or compared.
Notes:
This can be done with the red, green, or violet laser.
Be careful not to point the laser at anyone or look directly into the beam.
May need to be performed in a darkened room.
