A spool with a string attached can be moved in different ways depending on how the force is applied. If the string is pulled horizontally, the spool with roll toward you. If the string is pulled vertically, the spool will move away. There is also an angle that when pulled at, the spool will spin in place.

Setup:
Place spool on lab table. Make sure it won't roll off.
If the string is pulled horizontally, the spool will roll toward you. If the string is pulled more vertically, the spool will move away.
