Equilibrium Tubes

Despite the different shapes of the tubes in this vessel, the water level will be the same when filled. This is due to the atmospheric pressure.

Setup:

Using the burette clamp and stand, setup the glass tube apparatus so that is securely sitting upright.

Mix food coloring with water in the beaker.

Pour the water into the tube apparatus. The level of the water will be even despite the very different shapes of the tubes.
