This demonstration conveys static torque. As mass is added far from the handle, torque will cause the object to rotate.
Setup:
Place the equipment on the lab table.
A student holds the grip bar by its handle. The instructor hangs the weight close to the handle. Nothing happens.
The instructor hangs the weight farther from the handle. Their grip slips and the bar rotates.

What is the torque on the bar from the weight in each situation?
What is the net torque on the system in each situation?
