This demonstration shows resonance and principles of waves and sound waves. The speaker emits a frequency which can be adjusted. The plunger in the tube can be moved to find different resonances. When resonance occurs, the sound volume increases. Measurements can be used to calculate the speed of sound in air as well.
* Equipment seen in the video may vary from equipment used in ND Demonstrations. See information and images below for ND equipment and setup.
Setup:
Place the Resonance Tube on the demonstration table. Place the mini speaker at the open end.
Connect the mini speaker to the function generator using the banana cables.
Turn on the function generator and adjust the frequency and volume (using the voltage adjustment).
Move the plunger to find resonances. Use a plastic clip to mark the tube location.
