Doppler Rocket

This demonstration illustrates the Doppler Effect. The apparatus emits a tone. When it is moved in a circle above your head, the pitch (frequency) of the tone seems to change due to the Doppler Effect.

Setup:

Place the Doppler Rocket on the lab table. Make sure the string is securely tied.

Turn on the switch on the Doppler Rocket so that it emits a noise. Whirl the Doppler Rocket in a circle above your head using the string to hear the changes in frequency as it moves.
