Fiber optics is another example of total internal reflection like the light pipe. These are many little strands of Plexiglas (each a tiny light pipe) that are connected together in a flexible bundle. Shine the laser through one end of the bundle you can see that most of the light comes out of the other end of the bundle. You may also see the light leakage at the kinks in the strands.

Setup:
Place the equipment on the lab table. If requested, setup the webcam with the projector to view the system.
Shine the laser through one end of the fiber optic bundle. The other end of the bundle will light up. There should be minimal light leaked along the way.
Notes:
Be careful not to point the laser at anyone or look directly into the beam.
May need to be performed in a darkened room.
