This demonstration shows how the mass hung from a spring affects the length of the spring.

Setup:
Hang the spring from the ring stand. A mass hanger should be hung from the spring.
Setup a meter stick so that it is lined up with the bottom of the mass hanger. Setup the webcam so that it views the meter stick and is connected to the projector.
Add mass to the mass hanger to see the length of the spring change. The displacement can be measured on the meter stick.
