This demonstration shows the absorption of colors of the spectrum. A beam of white light is passed through a diffraction grating to produce the continuous spectrum. When a pair of glass blowing safety glasses is placed in front of the light, specific colors are absorbed (the yellow section).
Setup:
Place the light source on the demo table with the optics stand in front of it.
Mount the diffraction film on the frame and place it in the holder.
Turn on the light source and shine it through the diffraction grating to produce the continuous spectrum.
Hold the glasses in front of the light source to see the absorption.
