This apparatus can be used to demonstrate multiple wave phenomenon including wave motion, wave interference, reflection, and refraction.

Setup:
Place the ripple tank apparatus on the demo table and level it. Insert the metal rod for the light source into the platform and then attach the light source above the surface.
Fill the ripple tank with water.
Mount the ripple generator on a stand and place it so that the ripple paddles just touch the surface of the water.
Plug in the light source to the ripple generator.
Turn on the light and ripple generator to view the waves. This may be set so the paddles are in phase or alternate. The frequency and amplitude may also be adjusted. Barriers and surfaces may be placed to look at different reflections.
Notes:
This may be easier to see in a darkened room.
