*We recommend that students studying music at Year 10 are learning an instrument either externally or through the college as part of the Instrumental Program
Year 10 Music introduces and extends the development of student’s Music performance skills.
Across the semester and with your Instrumental Music Teacher* you’ll rehearse and present a recital of different pieces and a selection of exercises that help develop the skills required for these pieces. Music Language continues to be an important part of learning music at CMC, and we work with you to develop your ability to aurally recognise and write rhythmic, melodic and harmonic elements. Elements of Music are used to analyse music and to compose, arrange and improvise music.
Semester 1
By the end of Year 10, students interpret, rehearse and perform solo and ensemble repertoire in a range of forms and styles. They demonstrate a developing personal voice and technical control, expression and stylistic understanding. Students aurally and visually analyse works and performances of different styles. They evaluate the use of elements of music and defining characteristics from different musical styles. They use their understanding of music making in different cultures, times and places to inform and shape their interpretations, performances and compositions.
