Year 10 Media encompasses the fields of media, art, photography and design. In Media, students create visual representations that communicate, challenge and express their own and others’ ideas, as both artist and audience. They learn to use audio, print, and the moving images to create a variety of media products. They develop their perceptual and conceptual understandings, critical reasoning and practical skills through exploring the world through the media arts. Students learn about the role of the artist and designer, their contribution to society, and the significance of the creative industries. Media has the capacity to engage, inspire and enrich the lives of students, encouraging them to develop their creative and intellectual potential.
Students explore, respond, interpret, and create Media Productions. These include film, audio, print, photography, digital and convergent media forms. Topics covered are Film; My day in 60 seconds, Photography; Portraiture, Audio: Vox Pop, Digital; Magazine Cover. Media has the capacity to engage, inspire and enrich the lives of students, encouraging them to develop their creative and intellectual potential. Students explore a variety of different fields of media, photography, and design. They develop and produce their own representations to demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of each media form, and how they contribute to the communication of meaning. Students create media representations that communicate, challenge, and express their own and others' ideas. They develop critical reasoning, and practical skills through exploring the world of media products. Students learn about the role of the content creator, contributions to society, and the significance of the creative industries.
Students learn pre-production, production and post-production skills to create Media products. These include.
Audio production: Radio production, Podcasting, Sound FX
Print production: Album Art, Magazine Covers and Layouts, Posters and other print products
Moving Image production: Silent Movies, Interviews (Vox Pops), Independent films, Music Videos, Documentaries, Trailers,
They also develop their Media terminology and presentation skills utilising a variety of Media forms, and ability to analyse and evaluate Media products through presentations and written tasks.
