Year 10 Environmental Science focuses on global systems, the interactions between the Earth’s four main spheres and responsible stewardship of Our common home. Using case studies, students investigate causes and effects of both natural and human induced changes to ecosystems. They use this knowledge to investigate how we can minimise our impact, improve energy options, manage natural resources and protect biodiversity.
This semester-based unit focuses on the scientific investigation of the living and nonliving components of the environment. Students explore the fundamentals of the biosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. They investigate human impact on the environment, as well as management strategies that will enable current and future generations to meet their needs in a sustainable way.
