Physics is a challenging science subject that explores how scientific models are constructed and used. It is quite a mathematical subject as students develop and use scientific formulas. Students explore how scientific models are developed by exploring how scientific models have changed over time. This is done through a variety of small group practical activities, investigations and theory tasks.
The areas of physics explored are:
Motion
Vectors and Scalars
Newtons laws
Constant acceleration scenarios/formulas involving velocity, displacement, time, acceleration
Energy - Kinetic and Potential
Motion graphs
Electric Circuits
Ohm's Law
Behaviour and properties of components
Series and parallel circuits
Measuring and calculating voltage, resistance, current, voltage drop
Light
Behaviour and models of light
Frequency, wavelength & speed of waves
Reflection
Refraction (Snell's Law) and Critical Angle
