Year 9 Product Design Resistant Materials

In Product Design and Technology, students create quality designed solutions across a range of technologies contexts. 

Students consider the economic, environmental and social impacts of technological change and how the choice and use of technologies may contribute to a sustainable future. They also take into account the ethical, legal, aesthetic and functional factors that inform the design processes. 

Through practical applications, students develop their knowledge and skills using a large range of hand tools, along with learning how to use and maintain common static machinery and power tools within the workshop. Throughout this course there is a strong emphasis on relevant Workplace Health and Safety issues and communicating their own solutions for design problems. 

Throughout the course, students complete various theoretical and practical tasks, incorporating:

• Workplace Health and Safety practices

• Independent and collaborative tasks to produce a variety of products. 

• Application of the the Technology Design Process to produce, generate, analyse, evaluate and manage various projects and products. 

• Analysis and evaluations of finished products
