Indonesian is a challenging and creative subject for students who are interested in understanding other cultures. Languages enhance students’ native language skills and teaches them how to use and manipulate language for a range of purposes. They also explore a range of aspects of Indonesian life and culture and language. The study of a language increases empathy and develops creative problem-solving skills. Indonesian develops confidence in areas such as group and individual work and leads to enhanced communication and presentation skills for students.
Learning a second language fosters a broader world view
It fosters cross-cultural understanding with people of other languages and cultures
As tourism and study become more international and as Australia extends its trade links throughout a global network, second language learning takes on a further dimension
Grasp of another language offers the traveller or student an opportunity for a deeper appreciation of the country visited and greater interaction with its people
There are increasing career prospects, both within Australia and overseas, for people who are proficient in more than one language
Studying a second language greatly assists with the development of your first language skills
