CHC30121 Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care
Delivered at Bendigo TAFE, Kangan Institute - City Campus (RTO: 3077)
This program is suited to students who enjoy working in a creative environment, have good communication skills and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in Early Childhood services. You will learn skills and knowledge to support children’s education, wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Early Childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools and kindergartens. A minimum number of work placement hours must be completed as part of this Course.
In the second year, your Early Childhood industry knowledge and skill development will expand through learning to observe children to inform practice, develop an understanding of the local and broader cultural contexts, and use the identified information to embed culturally appropriate experiences, interactions, behaviours and physical environments into daily practice with children.
Students who receive a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence for any of the VCE VET qualification will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies).

Students who wish to study this program must be 16 years of age or older as of 1st February 2026 and be in Year 11 or 12.
Only students who have successfully completed the first year of the program will be accepted into the 2nd year of the program.
Work Placement:
Students will be required to complete mandatory 80 hours of Structured Workplace Learning over 2 years (40 hours per year). Bendigo TAFE will endeavour to provide students/schools with contacts in industry to secure these hours. The school and student are responsible for arranging the SWL with the employer.
This qualification will help you find employment in a centre-based day care services, Kindergartens and out-of-school hours services.
