About this subject
In this semester-based unit, students use a range of design, media, and technology skills in the creation, exhibition, and promotion of creative products or artworks. Students develop ideas for a product that can be a piece of applied art, or an artwork that uses ICT technology in its production. Students will work through the design process to create products, packaging and complete a marketing piece.
Media used may include:
Ceramics
Mixed Media
Digital Design Program
Other resources as required
Students work through projects which develop skills involving:
understanding topics/briefs/client needs/end-user requirements
research and idea development
idea selection and refinement
making and creating
exhibiting / display of products
promotional methods e.g. packaging / pamphlet / poster / point of sale
reflecting and evaluation
Types of learning activities
Students will develop design, making and marketing skills while using one of the following:
Ceramics
Textiles
Mixed Media
Students complete the design and creation of:
a creative product
a package design
a promotional piece
planning and reflection documentation in a visual diary
Students learn about presentation. packaging and exhibiting these products and art works.
