VCE Extended Investigation

What is studied?

You learn how to Design an investigation. On completion of unit 3 you will be able to write a research plan, you will begin research, and you will present an oral report on your topic discussing the research methods to an educated non-specialist audience.

What type of work is done?

• Designing a Research question –  you will develop an understanding of what is a good question - Written Rationale SAC

• Planning and commencing the investigation -  you will develop an ethical, robust, disciplined and rational approach to gathering information - Written Research Plan SAC and Oral Defense SAC

• Critical thinking -  you will analyse and evaluate the difference between opinion, belief, anecdote, evidence and substantiated views – Critical Thinking Test

• Complete the investigation and write the final report that responds to the research question – you will interpret and evaluate the evidence - Final report SAC

• Present the investigation and respond to questions and challenges – Final Oral SAC
