These 8th graders helped the Regiment consistently earn 2nd and 3rd place within their class at each competition this season as well as sub-caption awards earning 1st Place Color Guard and 2nd Place Percussion in class. Calling all performers and dancers! After two years, the Raider Winter Guard is back! Winter Guard is a combination of choreography through dance, flag, and other props set to a song and theme. The Raider Winter Guard competes across the state of Virginia and are the current reigning SILVER MEDALISTS for the Middle School Division within the Atlantic Indoor Association.
If you are interested in being a part of this award-winning team, come to the interest meeting Thursday, November 4 during Round Table - Band Room - Room 100. All students in grades 6-8 are welcome. Email Mrs. Eaton with questions: erica_eaton@ccpsnet.net
Specialty Centers information for 8th Graders
Specialty Centers are specific programs housed in high schools across the county that offer students opportunities to participate in optional academic programs related to special interests. 8th graders must apply between October 15-December 1.
Applications will be online this year through SchoolMint (log in using "rapid identity").
Open Houses (in-person) begin October 19.

Boys Basketball Tryouts
Robious Middle School boys basketball tryouts will be held the week of November 8 through November 12 in the school’s gymnasium. If interested in trying out for the team, please fill out this Google Form: https://bit.ly/RMSBKTRYOUTS. Athletes must submit a completed VHSL physical examination form, risk form (page 4 of the VHSL Physical Examination form may also serve as a risk form), and concussion form to Coach Wilbert prior to trying out. Basketball Open Gym
Robious Middle School will host open gym sessions for students interested in playing pickup basketball games from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. on October 28, November 3, November 4, and November 5, in the school's gymnasium. The sessions are open for boys and girls players of all skill levels, and is not a prerequisite for boys and girls basketball tryouts. Each grade level will get at least two days to play in the gym, and those dates will be determined by the number of players registered to play. If you are interested in playing, please fill out this form to reserve a spot. In addition, please complete this "risk and insurance" and "concussion" forms that need to be turned into Mr. Wilbert on the day you begin playing. More information about the open gym schedule will be announced at a later date. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Wilbert in Room 241
Mr. Berry and Kids Fit & Fun is offering a Holiday Basketball Clinic here at school over winter break. The clinic will be held on December 28, 29 and 30 from 9am to 2pm each day. The clinic is for any girl or boy ages 7 to 14. There is no experience necessary to attend the clinic. You can sign up for one day, two days or join him for all three days. Outdoor Survival Training Demonstration
Interested in high adventure and getting outdoors? Want to learn how to survive off the grid? Check this out:
Troop 1829 is offering demonstrations of fundamental survival training on November 6th, from 9am-1pm. This year’s theme is: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. We will highlight skills such as: building signal fires, lashing protective fences, wilderness first aid for bites and scratches, and apocalypse-style shelter building.
As an added bonus we will have demonstrations on preparing (and sharing) popcorn, pizza and other Scouting treats without electricity. (Hot chocolate and wassail to keep you fueled will also be provided)
This training is aimed specifically at those aged 11-17 and their families (pups and siblings welcome). The BSA program accepts anyone aged 12-17 or 11 ½ with an Arrow of Light from Cub Scouts.
