Robious Celebrates Disability Awareness and History Month.
Did you know that October is Disability History and Awareness Month in Virginia? The 2009 Virginia General Assembly responded to the call from young people with disabilities to pass a resolution designating the month and to encourage public schools and universities to engage in activities that promote awareness. One-fifth of all Americans have disabilities, including almost one million people in Virginia. In recognition, students and faculty have created a display in the forum highlighting famous people who have disabilities along with the characteristics of each disability. Please come by and help us celebrate - the display will remain in the forum until Tuesday, Oct. 31st.
Congratulations to Mrs. Guyer, Robious Middle Teacher of the Year, who was among the honorees at the Chesterfield County Teacher of the Year Gala last Thursday!
Calling all dancers and performers! Looking for an outlet to showcase your undiscovered talents? Then the BRAND NEW Raider Winter Guard is for you! Winter Guard is referred to as the "Sport of the Arts" where performers interpret music through choreography using dance, flags, and other equipment in a 3:00 minute routine. The RWG will perform at local and state competitions and select home basketball games. There will be an interest meeting for any student in grades 6-8 during ROUND TABLE this Thursday, October 26 in the Forum.
We embrace school spirit and appreciate when students stay after school to cheer on their classmates for basketball or soccer games. Please make arrangements to pick up your student on time. The games are usually over by 4:30, but we have had students waiting much longer than this for a ride home. I also ask that you let your student know that she/he must choose one game, either soccer or basketball, and cannot travel back and forth between events. Thank you for your understanding.
The Robious Middle School Counseling Department is developing a Career Speaker Database for teachers to use. If you can devote some time to share your expertise with students, please compete the survey below.
Thank you for your interest!
