2018 - Week of May 7

Post date: May 7, 2018 2:01:47 AM

It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Please show our teachers some love this week. They put their souls into their work to ensure your children receive an engaging and relevant education. In today's world, their responsibilities and challenges are innumerable, yet they come to work everyday, ready and excited to work with your children. Day in and day out, they give the best that they've got to ensure your young scholars are ready to take on the world, often with very little thanks. Please know that even a quick email that takes 10 seconds to write on your end, can mean the world to a teacher. Do you have any gift cards that are collecting dust somewhere in your house? I've got a wheel with every teacher's name on it. I'd love to spin it and randomly give away all the gift cards that you can spare.

RMS Counseling Coordinator, Martha Turner, has earned the honor of being named the 2018 VSCA Secondary School Counselor of the Year!! That's for the whole state of Virginia folks! This is a well-deserved recognition. Martha has the inherent ability to make every human being she comes into contact with feel as though he/she is important and her priority. She clearly has a vested interest in all of our students and seems to know everything about each one of them. It is impossible to miss that she has a passion for working with students and ensures that they not only learn, but feel cared for and special. Her energy and passion for educating students is contagious and she definitely enhances our learning community by being an active and involved member of it.

Music Department Fundraiser. When we started this "Flash Fund" (basically a Go Fund Me) with Great American last week, we NEVER thought we'd raise this much money for the music department. We are less than $1,000 away from reaching our $10,000 goal! Please feel free to share the link below with anyone you feel would like to support the performing arts. The website explains what the funds will go towards and how it helps keep cost down for our amazing Robious Music Students. Thank you all for always supporting our department - with over 600 students in RMS music, it takes a village! Click HERE for the link.
