If you are going to drop your young scholar off in the morning and/or pick up in the afternoon, please follow the arrows and drop off/pick up on the sidewalk beside the school. If you have your child get out of the car before this area, you are putting your child in danger because she/he is crossing traffic twice. Last week a student was struck by a car at Midlothian High School. Cars need to follow the arrows and not do u-turns as this goes against the flow of traffic and causes congestion. Thank you for putting student safety first.
Congratulations to the following students for being selected to represent Robious for the 2018 All District Band:
Aedan Bryant, third chair bassoon
Michael Cummins, sixth chair horn
Elizabeth MacPhail, eighteenth chair clarinet
Benjamin Roberts, third chair oboe
Sadie Turner, eighth chair horn
Katie Pippenger, bassoon alternate
Christian Walsh, tenor saxophone alternate
And a special congratulations to Miss Sadie Turner who makes Robious history as the first student to make both All District Chorus and All District Band in the same year.
The next RSVP service hours deadline is approaching. The deadline for service is January 23, and the forms are due no later than 3pm on January 24.
The Robious Middle Dance Team competed at Brooke Point High School in Stafford. They earned 1st Place in Pom and 2nd in Hip Hop! Our first dance trophies!
Check it out. Seventh grader, Mallory Phillips, did some research and wrote this story of kindness. There are so many instances of Robious Middle students finding and developing projects to help the community and those in need. RMS is a special place.
RMS Raider, Emily Dorsey is continuing with her second year of collecting gently used shoes for those in need. Last year, she collected over 1,000 pairs of shoes to send to Soles 4 Souls. There are collection bins in the library and outside the cafeteria.
Here's a message from a couple of young scholars at James River High School: Our names are Andrew Winder and Grant Derdevanis and we are seniors at James River High School in the Center for Leadership and International Relations. The Capstone Project is the climax of the specialty center’s student involvement senior year and it is a 60 hour service project. Our Capstone this year is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament at our high school with a shoe drive leading up to the event. It is called 3’s For The 3rd World and it is happening on February 9, 2018. We are trying to involve the feeder middle schools into our event so they can experience high school and have a great time with older students they might be classmates with soon. We want an immersive experience for your students and what we are asking for is any possible help you could give us regarding our event. We have multiple flyers and we would like to distribute them in the best way possible to get the most exposure and we are thankful for any help we can receive. Click here for the flyer.
