Robious Middle School Counseling & PTA invite you to attend a special viewing of the documentary "Screenagers." It showcases the effect of screen time on the adolescent brain.
It will be held January 11 at 7pm in the RMS Forum. Tickets are free! Your students will see the documentary in school that week, so we prefer that this be an adults-only viewing.
Please go to this link http://bit.ly/ScreenagersRMS to fill out a brief, anonymous survey. After the survey, you will be sent to the registration website.
We look forward to seeing you there!
One of our Robious Raiders was featured in the Glouster-Mathews Gazette Journal! - ‘Kick Cancer’s Donkey’ Gabriel Hill, a 13-year-old part-time Mathews resident who has seen cancer strike several family members, set about to “Kick Cancer’s Donkey” (he used the phrase to avoid a more off-color term). Starting on the night before Thanksgiving, he set up a hot chocolate stand at the family’s home across from Lee-Jackson Elementary School, performing Christmas carols on his guitar (he’s self-taught after picking up the guitar second-hand from the DAV Thrift Store). The fundraiser is in honor of his grandmother Brenda Baker, aunts Joyce Isbel and Brenda Onley, and “Granny Noel” Eleanor Kaiser, and all those still fighting cancer, according to Gabriel’s mom, Becka Baker Hill. He had set a goal of $250, but online donations alone (https://www.crowdrise.com/kick-cancers-donkey/fundraiser/rebeccagabehill) had reached $525 by Monday morning.
This year the SCA will be sponsoring "Souls for Soles", organized by Emily Dorsey. This event helps kids that desperately need shoes. We have trash cans outside of the gym and cafeteria for the collection of gently used shoes. Everybody has one pair of shoes that they no longer wear - please consider donating them to this very worthy cause. This is a small project that can have a big impact. Please contact Emily Dorsey or Mrs. Davis if you have questions. Our school goal is to collect at least 1000 pairs of shoes this school year.
Please remind your student not to bring glass bottles or glass containers to school. Snapple and glass water bottles can pose a danger when accidentally broken.
