The Athletic Council has approved the following sports to take place this spring: boys/girls soccer and track and field. Tryouts for soccer will take place in March with an eight game season beginning after spring break. Track and Field (tryouts and season) will begin after spring break. Final logistical information including dates will be communicated as soon as it is available. Any student interested in trying out for a sport needs a completed physical dated after 5/1/20 and a signed concussion form. The Athletic Council will continue to discuss opportunities for other sports and extracurricular activities.
CCPS FACE: Welcoming Communities Virtual Family Support Group Meeting Session 2: Gender & Identity on March 1, 2021
Join the Office of Family and Community Engagement for a panel discussion about gender and identity. This virtual event will review all things gender, including defining gender and identity vocabulary that families may not know, to help them develop a better understanding of the variants of gender. This session will take a much deeper dive into a transgender student’s journey and the important support roles their families, friends, and community play. Participants can attend anonymously, with questions submitted prior to the event. The panel will consist of parents of LGBTQ+ youth, students, teachers, and counselors and provide general information and insights. To register for the virtual event on March 1 at 6:30 p.m., click here.
Five days and face shields - As we approach March 9 with students returning to the school house, it is important to keep in mind that there are some differences, determined by the school board, compared to when students returned to the school house in the fall.
1. All students are required to wear a face shield in addition to a face mask, except when eating lunch. Face shields will be provided by CCPS.
2. Rather than coming into the school house two days at a time, beginning March 9, all students that have elected to come into the school house will do so for five days a week. This decision is binding and students are not permitted to enter school on some days of the week and attend virtually on others, unless a student must remain home due to illness or quarantine.
Our teachers are going to be instructing students that are both in-person and students that are attending virtually from home simultaneously. Therefore, our instructional model is the same as it was in the fall. Students will be logging into Canvas through their Chromebooks, whether they are in the classroom or at home.
We have updated the FAQ document that can be found on the Return to Learn portion of this site. It can also be accessed by clicking here.
