As middle schools prepare for our students to return to in-person learning on March 9, the Middle School Athletic Council has begun preparations for some athletics and extracurricular activities. In order to be eligible for an athletic activity, students must have a valid VHSL physical, dated after May 1, 2020, and a signed concussion awareness sheet. Students enrolled in any of the learning options, in-person, virtual, or CCPSOnline, will be eligible to participate. Students must be currently enrolled in at least 5 courses and must have passed at least 5 courses from the first semester to be eligible. More information will be provided closer to when our students return to in-person instruction.
Five days and face shields - As we approach March 9 with students returning to the school house, it is important to keep in mind that there are some differences, determined by the school board, from when students returned to the school house in the fall.
1. All students are required to wear a face shield in addition to a face mask, except when eating lunch. Face shields will be provided by CCPS.
2. Rather than coming into the school house two days at a time, beginning March 9, all students that have elected to come into the school house will do so for five days a week. This decision is binding and students are not permitted to enter school on some days of the week and attend virtually on others, unless a student must remain home due to illness or quarantine.
Our teachers are going to be instructing students that are both in-person and students that are attending virtually from home simultaneously. Therefore, our instructional model is the same as it was in the fall. Students will be logging into Canvas through their Chromebooks, whether they are in the classroom or at home.
We have updated the FAQ document that can be found on the Return to Learn portion of this site. It can also be accessed by clicking here.
