More important than a trophy, the winter guard jumped 17 points in just two weeks from their last competition - a rarity in this circuit! Come out to support them one last time on Saturday March 17 at Atlee High School in Mechanicsville at their last competition of the season. Congratulations again ladies on your best performance yet!

Grab a sandwich and support the Sport of the Arts! Come out to Jimmy Johns inside Chesterfield Town Center this Thursday March,1 anytime between 5:00-:800pm. Just simply place your receipt in the “fish bowl” at check out and a portion of each order will help continue to fund the Raider Winter Guard!

All are invited to the next PTA Diversity Committee meeting. Click here for more information.

The following is a message from two students in the Leadership and International Relations Center at James River High School:

As part of the curriculum of the Leadership and International Relations Center at James River High School, a fellow student and I are building a special community-wide event as our Capstone Service Project. River Jam is an outdoor music and arts festival held at James River High on March 10, 2018 from 1-4 PM. We anticipate upwards of 800 attendees from our community.

More than 3,400 high schoolers attempt suicide every day in America. Our community suffers from this problem; last year, two fellow students from James River High School ended their lives. The proceeds from River Jam will benefit the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation, which builds programs for teenage sufferers of mental illness and provides resources for suicide prevention.

Click here to see the flyer.

Your support of River Jam will directly impact the youth in our Chesterfield community by providing students with coping mechanisms, creating a positive campus culture, and Speaking Up about mental health.

An article about River Jam was published on a leading mental health site whose founder spoke at the 2018 National Mental Health Institute: https://annemoss.com/2018/01/27/james-river-students-seek-raise-awareness-teen-suicide/

River Jam has a billboard on I-95 and I-64 near the baseball diamond. Watch for Team River Jam on channel 8 news on March 5th at 9 AM and on CBS 6 on March 6th at 9 AM.
