It IS Difficult to Follow this Narrow Path

What brought you to RMI? Please use this space to briefly let our readers know what your life was like when you first found us, Jacqueline, so our readers understand just what a miracle your restoration is.

Jacqueline, how did your restoration actually begin?

I was going through a difficult situation in my married life because I believed that divorce was the solution. There were several difficulties in my marriage, so I thought it meant that divorce would solve them. I wanted to move on and find someone new.

We filed the divorce petition and continued with the separation we had— never considering what this would do to our 4-year-old son—because I was spiritually blind. There was no one to give me any encouragement, warning me to resist this pit I had flung us into. No one told me just to stick it out, persevere in your journey and stay married. So, I set off, living my life with my son. Soon I was the picture of depression, deep sadness, utter anguish, and suffering deep horrible pain.

How did God change your situation Jacqueline as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

My husband began to search for God to be in his life again and amazingly, during the same period I also had my first real encounter with the Lord. Meeting the Lord personally happened when I met a RMI Minister and I began to confess what I’d done. As she lovingly shared the truth with me, giving me first A Wise Woman workbook to read, followed by a few other paperbacks to read from this ministry, links to go to, I soon began to understand how wrong I’d been. For the first time I recognized that I was a foolish woman during my entire marriage. I had pulled down my happiness with my own hands.

What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), Jacqueline, did the Lord teach you during this trial?

The one thing that spoke to me so directly, which filled with so much truth, was when I read the workbook I was given, A Wise Woman. Reading this main verse for the first time changed everything, Proverbs 14:1, "The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands."

This was the word of truth concerning the woman I was! I identified with her a lot. As I read more, gaining wisdom in each of the chapters, I learned more and more principles. As I read this book, the light came on! I had caused my own discontentment by working outside the home and preventing myself from having more children.

Probably the most important principle was to LET IT GO. Not just Let God, because I understood that it would not be my will, but the will of God to restore our marriage or do anything in my life.

What were the most difficult times that God helped you through Jacqueline?

The most difficult was when I finally understood that I was on the wrong path and my attitude was displeasing God. Several of my attitudes (know-it-all, pride, always commenting when I should have been quiet) I should never have had as a married woman. It was so difficult to realize just how foolish I had been! The greatest blessing of God, was when He gave me the Love of my Heavenly Husband.

Jacqueline, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

The turning point came by letting him go. He already had a relationship with an OW, and he planned to get married. So, I needed to believe that the Lord had the best choice for us and if that wasn’t His will, His plan, He would stop it. If not, I had my Husband.

Tell us HOW it happened Jacqueline? Did your husband just walk in the front door? Jacqueline, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

It was not so simple, as I had said, I just needed to trust God, to know that He has the perfect will for my life. So, I practiced the Bible and Ministry principles in my life, I asked for forgiveness for everything with my husband when I saw him Then God cleaned my heart and we started to talk more and more. My husband could see that there was still love and hope of transformation in our family once I changed. He finished with the OW and returned home (this happened on a morning where he had to talk and ask God for the decision because it was close to his wedding, that's when he said he wanted to say something to stop it, and he told her he was heading home). I was very happy of course, not for my sake, but for my son.

Would you recommend any of our resource in particular that helped you Jacqueline?

I recommend EVERY ONE of your resources!! How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage and as I said, A Wise Woman which is what helped me the most. I think it’s because we need to know what restoration looks like, not just how to get restored. Also to help I actually read through all of the By the Word of Their Testimonies books, which I bought paperbacks and marked them like my other RMI books. Finally, to keep me moving forward on my journey, I began going through your free online courses.

Each one of these was extremely important to my restoration—along with the power and Word of God.

Would you be interested in helping encourage other women Jacqueline?

Yes. I have already written and began passing out my testimony. I am currently working with two women who are living what I have been through and one is close to restoration herself.

Either way Jacqueline, what kind of encouragement would you like to leave women with, in conclusion?

The way to turn your life around is by being willing to confessing your mistakes. It’s about knowing and acknowledging that as women, we are often horribly contentious and by acting this way, we are opening the door for the enemy— allowing him to destroy our home and future. That’s why we must understand and practice the Word of God, every day, because God is the Creator of our life and wants to be there for any kind of problem we have. Only HE has the solution, and even though it is difficult to follow this narrow path—we know we will have a good result—if what we do comes from God.
