Backstory: Rook grew up a member of a relatively notorious outhab gang on Gunpoint, becoming one of the most feared heavies in the underhive, until a botched raid on a Guilder caravan killed two uphive nobles. He skipped town (and the planet) by enlisting in the Imperial Navy, escaping barely two steps ahead of the law.
He served as a petty officer on the gun-decks of the Dauntless-class light cruiser Carnephilis, distinguishing himself somewhat in several boarding actions against the hated ork, and won himself a battlefield commission to ensign, and eventually rose to sub-lieutenant. Despite this almost heroic service record, his career was blighted by countless minor disciplinary infractions.
The most recent incident involved several bottles each of joiliq and amasec, leading Rook to be found in a drunken stupor at his gunnery console during the dogwatch. Since this was the 12[sup]th[/sup]such offence, Rook was sentenced to a public execution for Criminal Neglect of Duty, and transferred to a prison ship to labour until his sentence was carried out.

Raised among the Schola Progenium, removed from parents she never knew, Geena was raised for the Ecclesiarchy. When her physical stature caused her to be selected to join the Adepta Sororitas, she was soon glad to serve the Emperor in that way. Her Sisters were sisters to her in more than just word, they were the family she never had. Rising through the ranks with them, when given the great choice she took the test to join the Orders Militant, which she passed. Joining the Order of the Bloody Rose, her sword and gun felled foes of the Imperium, and she prospered. Her unit was assigned to a small Mission in a distant sector of the Imperium, and she felt joy. Then tragedy struck. Foes of the Imperium fell upon the Mission. Before reinforcements could arrive, her squad was destroyed. Of the other battle sisters squad there, only two survived, both grievously wounded. She was the highest ranked survivor, it was her failure.
Returning to her Sisters, she could not face them. She sought penance, but the Repentia was not in her temper. Leaving her order behind, chainsword in hand, she cast her fate to the stars, and joined with one of those most loyal servants of the Imperium on a quest to gain for the Imperium as she had lost for it.
