Party advances on place indicated by Locate Object, to find Focus , which seems to be an abandoned castle several miles upland from Luparno.

Two guards on front watch tower, place in moderate disrepair, Captain Rogue breaks in the back door, Defense elevator. Party accidentally goes down one floor, explores abandoned barracks which seemed to be for metallurgists rather than soldiers. Several nasty traps and defensive measures, fought off several guards who seem to be devoted to some Witch.

Back to port of Luparno for repairs, met new sailor, Shadax the Wood Elf.

While on shore leave, Focus-1 got lost and seems to be upland, PC party went to investigate

and found "guardians" in a forest who seem to serve some "ice mistress"

Visit Luparno Tilea port ; fix boat, pick up new cleric (ice priest of Kislev)

Sail down to Sartosa, Sicily. Recon the hanging gallows at Russo Rocks.

Use Ice elemental to recover peg-leg from corpse. Later, ship is chased by inky black deaths,

Killed them off very loudly at port. Later, at southern port of Sicily, (Senelite )

Briefly visited the port of Senelite on south Sartosa,

Chased by 32 hd fire elemental (K); that appeared out of a lamp-post.

Elemental demands either the Horn Artifact, 70k gold worth of magic paper, or union with a Snow Maiden, whatever the hell that means.

Trident tailed by a ship; The Rum Runner Omega; Goblin Sorceror from before had charmed their crew, and used them to get revenge.

Chum the Waters: evil spell creates sharks, octopi, and starfish. Sharks kill anything in the waters, Octopi throw enemies in the waters.

and Starfish chew holes in hulls of enemy ships. Boarding action semi-failed. Enemy crew laid waste with swivel guns.

Captain Lanterri still in brig.

(skip 21 due to vacation)

Towed Magpie to Barak Varr, put it in escrow . Alchemist hired sage to design depth charges. Then tried Sailing to Sartosa, the Pirate Kings hold, encountered 4 sea monsters, Tilean slavers, and a yacht, some tritons. New crewman Other ship tried following on.

Weekly Rolls: Crete, Demon Coffin; Antikythera, Nerve Gas; Gibraltor, Mega-Bomb.

Pirate crew assaults Magpie Princess & Captain Lanteri at supper time, while in a cove. Many of the Magpie crew had been poisoned, and with Focus-One in hiding for an advantage. Using invisibility and water-walking, the PC crew boarded and surprised the Magpie, and quickly slaughtered over half of them. They marooned her crew, and took Lanteri prisoner, questioning her on the whereabouts and nature of her treasure. After threatening the Magpie with scuttling, she relented and told them she was seeking an artifact hidden in the leg of a dead pirate, whose body was hanging in the punishment gibbet of Sartosa, The Druid will take the Magpie to Barak Varr, and hold it in escrow for Lanteri, when she is freed by the PC crew after she helps them get the artifact in the leg. Inexplicably, before he left, the Druid blew on a horn that was pillaged from the Magpie, and it was revealed as being highly magical.

Ship pulls into the Lily-White Border Port on the Adriatic, after Druid scouts it out. Captain Feck was obsessed with rereading the old captains log, so first mate Vetaurus led the group. Festival of Bacchus is in progress, and most of the 13+ pirate ships docked here as well as the town are flying the signal flag of parley. Town allows no Orks, Goblins, or anything that is not at least 50% human inside the city limits. Our crew sells their ill-gotten gains and joins in with the festival, participating in the feasts, contests, and the drinking challenge. The archer Rhyse won the session, but did not set a new town record. Another Captain (Lanteri) used the festival as an opportunity to recruit for her ship, as they need crew to set sail for finding a lost treasure. The PCs ask Focus-1 the rigger to temporarily join her ship and report back on what they find. Also a costumed parade not unlike mardi gras filled the streets. Later that night, Rhyse still drunk from the parties dresses up as an Ork Freebooter and tries to join in the hoopla. The previously hidden town guardian yanks him off the docks and hauls him bodily up the coast a ways to her lair. The guardian turns out to be a Spirit Naga, and she diligently sinks all orkish or chaos vessels that threaten the area. In the morning, the PC party used locate object to find him and bargained for his ransom. Then they set off to find where Lanteri's pirate had gone, since her boat was apparently not docked in town.

They were farther up coast, hidden in a cove, and were not ready to sail yet, as they need to repair and recrew after a recent mutiny.

Set sail from Barak Varr, traipsing down Adriatic coast, heading for Antikythera. Stopped to way-lay a Libyan slaver,

the Cartographer's Father. Took the slaver's bribe, and did not lay waste. Ran into a Byzantian merchant, gave chase,

fired upon, rammed, and boarded and captured . New destination is the Border Port, to sell the loot.

Final day in Barak Varr. Red ship renamed CRIMSON TRIDENT. Reflagged as Privateer sanctioned by Dwarves.

Finalized ship's roster, crew details, treasure splittage, and new jobs. Feck the Dwarf elected captain since he was

late returning to ship from the ale-house. Treasure will split evenly when gained by a shore party, with a share to the crew and

and a share to the ship itself. Treasure will split more traditionally when at sea, even shares for crew and ship, officers get 2.

Living Tree mast planted on deck of repaired vessel. New bard, Radisa, hired.

Crew all on board, first nights sleep in new cabins, vessel to depart at first morning tide.

at 3:14 am, a celestial lantern appears over the chronomancy book with a warning.

at 3:15 am, an Erinyes devil appears near the chronomancy book and cackles off a spell.

at 3:16 am, an undead monstrous pirate lord named Gorazag steps out of the book, and tries to leave.

A parley is called, but breaks down, and the crew squashes the dead lord finally.

In Barak Varr, Party Approached by Calvernium, a Tilean man who is seeking his son.

Party ventures into depths of BV, into a dwarf only area, there they find evidence of an old Roman-era

crypt. Zombies, Ghouls and undead Hags, Assault the party, and they find son has sold his soul to a devil,

and must be put down. Also the NPCs return from their sales trip, and the PC party splits the funds amicably

with the old captain Taero, and company is parted from the Carpe Diem. New ship is as almost repaired and refitted,

but is not reflagged or renamed yet.

NPCS: Turner and Morgan in Matorca: which was a very busy for a medium city. Had to navigate warily amongst the guilds and the other sellers and buyers. Had to surrender their weapons to gain entry to a party with Commandant Kreuger. Kreuger was more than happy to buy their weapons. Turner and Morgan both had to fight duels, with the price being decided upon who was the better swordsman. The Baron's purser wanted a piece of the action, and had to be bribed. Morgan fell in love with one of the Commandant's agent on the trip back, and won't be working for Capt. Taero either. Price for the swords: 85% of what was promised.

Cavern exploration, in the Dwarven undercity, 50gp for all you can pick and pay from the scrapheap.

party turned up a few magic trinkets, fought a super-mimic and avoided the torture chamber.

(skip week on 26 May due to Muster-Con)

Dwarven navy tows vessel, (for speed not salvage) Confers that the stolen ship was the Hammer of Grendormal, an old Dwarven

navy cutter lost to the Orks about 12 years ago, they thank the PCs for the info.

Barak V arr, Shore Leave, PC crew keeps Red Ship; finds out it is a spelljamming capable boat,

PCs buy out their charter contracts. Shopping around the dwarven port. Idle dwarven lass giving you

a hard time and was allegedly in cahoots with Dark Elves, hijinks at dwarven tavern.

Sea Combat, the Carpe-Diem versus two Ork vessels, a Steamer (De GravyBoat) Hauling a Squid-Ship cruiser. (The Beak Jowler)

The steamer was manned by goblins, and sported an engine block of unusual complexity. The pirates pounded this vessel with cannons

and left it depowered. The Alchemist attempted to blow the ship, but only the engine broke open, not catastrophically.

The 3 vessels locked together, and boarding ensued, with vicious rocker fire and swivel guns raking the crews to death.

Three Casualties so far for our heroes.

(skipped RavenCon)

Left Antikythera (again) sailing west to find optimal course that both avoids Orks and doesn't waste too much time.

Worst weather of voyages so far. Gales and storms, fogs and rain showers.

Outran a Red Towers tribe Orkish Warship. Finally lost them in the storm.

Later the ship plowed through schools of various ugly sea life, with no incidence.

One night another large crowd of reefclaws climbed aboard and started stinging everyone in the crew.

A few nights later all 3 of the nightwatch crew were taken overboard by forces unknown.

Also an Ork ranger, patrolling on a wyvern, spotted the ship and observed our pirates for a while.

Various PCs attempted to get him, but nothing worked perfectly. So he reported back to his Tribe. (Dripping Blades)

Ship has sailed into the strait of Corfu-Leuca, into the Adriatic. Approaching the Border Princes Region.

But fate has chiseled a battle into the schedule, as a Bad Moons Orkish warship is closing on their location.

Harbor of Antikythera, recover and salvage Burnt Saffron. Sell off her slaves, Collect Bounties

on her and her crew. Hell Hounds prevent her repair unless someone sells soul to be her new master.

Gave unholy symbol (cotter pin) to nearby temple for disposal, at which juncture ship burns out and sinks,

Bar fight between dwarves on crew and lord mayor at the Saddened Sage Tavern.

Sold Captivity Cage for 80,000 gp. Sold Pox Bombs and Jackalope Furs and kept the Urea.

Captain finishes his formula, they paint the boat and it gets Malleable Architecture (rearrangeable decks)

as an alchemical (fae) side effect of his experimentation.

Repair and Resupply, and more liberty. Found thief with zone of truth (fallen paladin in love)

who was lashed and marooned at Anitkythera. Set sail at dawn for Border Princes......

10 days.

Adrift at Sea. Set sail for Antikythera, Had to Outrun a Scylla, and some giant Dundersoek fish.

Shopping, repairs and resupply in Antikythera. bought New figurehead = sea dragon.

Various books lent out to crewmen. Draghina appears to be some sort of loremaster.

Everyone got some sort of souvenir "device" from Antikythera.

Attacked in lagoon outside harbor by the Burnt Saffron, legendary ship.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Post Script:
A) After studying the notes from the Thieves Guild, you guys figured out that the Minotaurs left guild
members alone due to some ancient pact, and whoever wore the Minotaur Belt was the "card holder"
B) Also, one of the guild spellcasters knew the true name of the intellect devourer, so it also left guild
members alone, and could be forced to help out on capers once in a while. Plus the thieves would
feed him an interesting tourist once in a while as a "tip". But when the pirates killed said caster, the
devourer was let loose in Crete. Reason #2 why Crete just won't be there next time you pass by,
C) After the slave galley battle, when the captain and quartermaster, and boatswain were going through
the dead crew's belongings (witnesses as required by the charter) everything was normal and went fine
for Emilio the Cabin Boy, and he was blessed and buried at sea normally.
D) However when the above persons were doing the same for Jacki Teach (the other helmsman) who died.
a note and container were found in her cabin, which contained only this note:
Good Crew: Do not let me really die, please find enclosed 2750 gold pieces
and a huge diamond to pay for my resurrection, Thanks in Advance.
The coffer contained only the note. So no funeral was had, and an inquest ought be held.
Last Hurrah versus the Cretan Thieves Guild. apparently
has a penchant for ripping off foreign wizards.
Finished off Crete Thieves Guild, magic stash of books.
Nerd Bard accidentally lets loose Piscodaemon figurehead.
Apparently she (Draghina) is somehow associated with the recovered magic books.
Her touch let loose the figurehead, who then attempted to eat the outsiders present.
The alchemist and wizard teamed up to toss a shrunk lumber down the things' throat,
then dispelled the magic to choke it from the inside, then shoved it in the magic cage,
then put the cage in the Chest of the Mercane for disposal.
Part 2 of Revenge on the Thieves Guild of Crete.
Returned to boat, dropped off gold from trade of dead minotaur horns,
got extension of shore leave by captain, returned to
hidey hole in black market district,
Killed a dozen more hooligans , plus 3 more minotaurs.
Maze is complex, and has a layer of chutes above it apparently allows sneaking around
via an upstairs network. Lack of a proper thief hampers progress.
LAYOVER in CRETE : players are thieved by locals, and more thieves seem interested in the boat. (plague rumors)
Party got lectured by priestess of Rhea, then robbed by a thief, who snuck into a hidey hole in the ghettos.
Which led to an underground base of the Thieves Guild of Crete, which was maze like.
Chock full of traps, the party eventually fought and killed some thieves, and 2 minotaurs,
and then a nearby intellect devourer took an interest, but the party retreated to a safer room.
Dwarf Rogue leads the way on traps, and the Druid repeatedly claims to be no warrior, yet keeps the cudgel handy.
Also a proposition was made to not divvy treasure with the crew, but this was accidentally done in front of an NPC crewman,
and the statement had to be hurriedly walked back and smoothed over.
Everyone is waiting for the coffin from previous to be opened by a Cretan and bring doom upon the island.
While enroute to Crete from Rhodes: Crew fights off a crazed Chaos Manticore that was out looking for a snack.
Crew finds an ornate sealed coffin floating in the sea.
Crew kills an advanced gargantuan moray eel, and picks up the shiny
stuff it was hoarding in its undersea cave, While investigating the cave they
saw a strange blue construct observing them, but ignored it.
AT CRETE, the crew took some leave and bought supplies and repair parts,
and tried to sell extra items in town. The magic sellers seemed to be shysters.
Sold the unopened coffin (seemed more conjuration than necro magic) to a black market dealer.
  • At Port of Lindros on Rhodes.
  • Shore Leave and Resupply.
  • Sell boats, jewels.
  • Ransom Turk slaves to Eastern Orthodox church.
  • Fight chaos cultists
  • Fight super-hell-hound.
Still heading for Rhodes, ship is attacked by lacedons, who had a lair on a seamount
near the shipping lane. The next night, under cover of darkness, the night watch crew
was webbed and beaten unconscious. Only the braying of the undead-detecting donkey
saved the crew's hides. A sea-witch, Niseria, & her motley crew (sahuagin, grindylow, elementals,
brine-hags, and giant lobsters were going to hijack as many people as possible. Also they were
seeking something specific on the boat. She attempted to summon an undead thing she called a
"Spirit of the Shipwreck" but it did not arrive in time before the party slew her.
They tracked back to her cave lair, but a gill-man guard almost killed some of the salvage
crew, but they were able to get her treasure and notebooks.
Ship tails Turkish Tramp-Stamper. Finds them to be reprehensible Greek slavers.
They bombard the TS sails, and overtake, board and fight.
Turned up a wondrous mule and other prizes. Set crew adrift, and take prize in tow to Rhodes.
Rumor of buyer for swords cargo in Matorca (Border Princes)
Lay Up Supplies for Voyage
Interview with Captain, Sign Charter
Captain insists Halfling prove himself with fight versus stevedore.
In the Black Sea, the Carpe-Diem Knocked over a Kislevite
Merchant, which was actually on Imperial War Business,
and they overcame the lightly armed east-india-man. Now they let the crew live, marooned the officers, and took the booty. That turned out to be 12,000 gold in Army pay, and over 1000 swords destined for Kislevite armories. The pirates beat it back to Maj Eisley, and partied the money away, while sitting in port. This long vacation is why they needed to hire new crew, and are broke, and need to find a buyer for these (now rusting swords).
