The following material should serve to assist the players of the various Avengers as characters in the Hero System game of Marvel-based Champions.

Suggested are Tactics to employ in game:

ie: Hulk tosses car into (okay through)

a crowd of enemy soldiers.

and Roleplay bits to encourage character development:

ie: Hulk makes up colorful nickname for enemy.

( Shut up Scaly Man! )

The listed XP bonuses occur a maximum of once per game session, and the 3xp bonuses can occur once per story arc.

FIRST THE LADIES :

BLACK WIDOW

ANT-MAN Roleplay Bits

Hero On The Horizon

1 XP - The first time you point out that a given villain has technology that might be helpful if put to less nefarious use.

2 XP - When you use your Tech Expert Specialty to create a resource based on the technology of one of your enemies.

3 XP - When you see an enemy utilize technology based on your designs to cause widespread danger or a threat to innocent lives, and you decide to swear off of inventing gadgets for fear of their misapplication.

Ant-Man Tactics:

You have various nasty threats in your arsenal, and you are expected to be creative and resourceful. You have both a gadget skill and a bug skill for making up new ways to foil the bad guys (or help your teammates)

2xp - persuade another into a difficult situation

3xp - sacrifice self for a team-member.

3xp - "betray" a team member to aid team

Black Widow Tactics:

She is a master of manipulation and persuasion. Defense Maneuver means no-one gets cheap shots at her. She has all the spy skills and much more.

BLACK PANTHER Roleplay Bits:1xp - when you appraise or flirt

with a potential queen

2xp - when you declare something a threat to Wakanda

2xp - when you attack said threat to Wakanda

3xp - when you eliminate said threat to Wakanda.

1xp - when you inflict harm on an enemy from surprise.

B.P. Tactics:

Master of stealth and surprise. Good martial artist. Sure would be a shame if someone were to trip and fall right in front of the Hulk.

MANTIS ROLEPLAY -- Recovering your Soul : You will stop at nothing to take your revenge on Kang, his minions, and their agents.

1 XP - when you uncover a new operation by Kang

through stealth.

3 XP - when you take down a new secret operation, or when

Kang sets a trap for you with a new bio-weapon and

you take physical stress.

3XP - when you take down one of Kang's top operatives, or

when you convince one of them of his evils and

gain a new ally.

-- Searching For Humanity - The experiments that robbed you of loved ones you cost you everything, and now you are stuck in a world you no longer understand, trying to find the part of you that you're missing.

1 XP - when your alien mindset lands you in trouble

with authorities or turns someone whom you wanted

to befriend against you.

2 XP - when you emotionally stress out a potential friend or

when you successfully team up with another hero

to accomplish a common goal.

3 XP - when someone is stressed out of a scene defending you,

or you are stressed out defending someone you realize

you care about. Kang and others of his kind killed your lover

and kidnapped your son.

MANTIS TACTICS

Martial arts. Know'em, love'em. Mantis can instinctively do such actions as jab someone in the solar plexus by complete surprise or "spock pinch" their shoulder from behind.. Do not be afraid of self sacrifice. If you make the rolls you can easily regrow your body.

Also, Mantis talks in 3rd person, all the time.

CAPTAIN AMERICA Roleplay Bits:1xp - if you aid or advise a hero before you attack.

2xp - aid a hero in his recovery

3xp - take over (or resign from) leadership of an endeavor

1xp - exceptionally creative shield usage. (power stunt)

CAP TACTICS:

Your Shield, it can block damage for you and others near you. You are the definition of team player. You can instictively get your shield in the way of attacks. Thugs get really surprised when that shield zings out of your hand and slices their gun right out of their grasp.

METEORITE Roleplay Bits: LET ME HELP YOU…

1 XP — when you use your Psych specialty to heal emotional stress/trauma .

2 XP — when you engage in a confrontation with another hero and emotionally manipulate them into getting what you want.

3 XP — when you use a questionable Psych or Medical asset or resource to support a team member or you refrain from supporting a team member with your Specialties at a critical moment.

LEGACY OF THE MOONSTONE

1 XP — when you describe dreams/visions of a blue-skinned, Kree warrior woman, and how they affected your actions against your nature.

2 XP — when you spend a time off-screen researching The Moonstone, when you could be helping yourself or others.

3 XP — when you decide to get rid of the Moonstone (and thus the visions) or embrace the warrior-woman’s heroic priorities.

MockingBird Tactics

HAWKEYE TACTICS:

You can shoot a gun right out of someone's hand. You have ten of each trick arrow. If you lose you bow, you can still toss them as attacks. If you lose your arrows also, either pick up an enemy's gun or use your martial arts.

Ms. Marvel Tactics

You are a champion, don't be afraid to act like one. Don't hesitate to step in front of a laser or a particle beam, a phaser, or a neutron blaster. Keep asking the GM questions, since you have Danger Sense. With your megascale flight you have the ability to arrive at a crime-scene first.

Hulk Tactics:

You have access to the Ultimate Brick book, with all the tricks listed in it. There are truck loads of schticks when you can do when you're strong enough to juggle the Statue of Liberty.

Use a power line as a whip, clear a street with a semi-trailer, break out windows across the street with your hand-claps, etc.

Hulk can toss a car through a crowd of enemy soldiers.

SCARLET WITCH ROLEPLAY ITEMS:"PROVISIONAL" TEAM MEMBER

1 XP - when you must defend your right to even be an Avenger.

2 XP - when you fight right alongside a team member who doubts you

3 XP - when you prove yourself by taking physical or emotional trauma for the team

"IT WASN'T MY FAULT"

1 XP - when must assure a long-time friend, family member, or loved one that you are still worthy of their trust

2 XP - when an attempted reconciliation is disrupted by violence or a need for action.

3 XP - when you get a family member or long-time friend to trust you again or forgive your past screw-ups

S.W.TACTICS

Scarlet's hex transform is cumulative: If an enemy resists it, she'll try again. Machinery does not like her hex powers. Her hexes can backfire, but don't let that make you afraid to use them. Scarlet knows some basic karate, she does not have to let someone just grab her or beat on her.

IRON MAN Role-play Bits:1xp - consume (or resist consuming) alcoholic beverages 2xp - brag about (or lie about) binge drinking & excessive partying.

3xp - drinks self into stupor (or checks into rehab).

1xp - shut down an enemy tech power

2xp - shutdown all of an enemies tech powers.

3xp - defeat a superior force with its own tech

Iron Man Tactics:

Stand Off and Shoot. Fisticuffs are best left for the experts. Don't be afraid of a move-through. See if a team-mate needs a ride somewhere. Choose your armor specialty carefully, since you can't change mid-fight.

SERSI Ours can be a… “difficult” relationship…Roleplay Bits: 1 xp - when team discusses the relationship Eternals have with Earth

2 xp - when an argument erupts between Sersi and an Avenger

3 xp - when Sersi concedes (and shows with actions) that Avenger’s mission is paramount and agrees to be their magician for as long as the team needs her.

3 xp - when Sersi defeats an Agent of Thanos.

1xp - She uncovers some plot that is magical in nature.

2xp - She discovers some new magical tome or artifact.

3xp - She defeat a super villain without magic.

Sersi Tactics:

Her transform is cumulative, so if a foe resists, she should try again.

She can talk to animals, see magic, fly others, and heal people.

So she can turn the Abomination into a parrot, then train him to say he wants a radioactive cracker.

MOON KNIGHT TACTICS

You have a whole fanny-pack full of bat-man style tricks. You are the caped marvel of this world, and if you can't take someone out, you can certainly humiliate them. You have danger sense, so keep asking the GM questions. No shame in ducking the big brawl if you go off camera and find a clue or two.

SQUIRREL GIRL ROLEPLAY ITEMS: Great Lakes Avenger1xp - when a team you are a member of changes name.2xp - when an above average summoned squirrel dies.

3xp - when a team you lead gains widespread respect and recognition or you're forced to disband it.

1xp - when another character brings up one of your past victories

2xp - when you stress out an opponent with Resourceful Leader

3xp - the first time you defeat a villain with It's Canon Now in a way that causes the majority of table to cheer or leave the table in disgust.

S.G.TACTICS

Being nice to some people will eventually fail you, and you may have to get huffy with them, probably hit them or do something to get them to hurt themselves. Other notes: Cute But Deadly, Friend of the Squirrels , Resourceful, Smart and Capable. You have basic martial arts, so what you may have to do is delay someone with them until either your luck kicks in or you can get them in the way of that truck Hercules just tossed by.

ROCKET RACCOON ROLEPLAY ITEMS:

Nice Save

1 XP - When you point out to a teammate the perilous situation another teammate is in, or you nag your teammates about an action they should or shouldn't have taken.

2 XP - When you perform a recovery action on an ally to get them back into the fight.

3 XP - When an ally that you brought back into the fight with your recovery action is the one to end a serious threat in a way that only that ally could end the threat.

1 XP - When you mention a threat that your teammates dismiss as being beneath their efforts.

2 XP - When one of your allies comes around to your way of thinking and advocates your course of action.

3 XP - When the threat that you mentioned proves to be so dangerous that your allies agree that they should have listened to you in the first place, or when all of your allies abandon you and you have to face this threat alone.

R.R. Tactics:

Many on the team are better fighters than you, but you have skills, and insight few others do. Plus you're an actual cop and can actually do that CSI crap to figure out what's really going on at a crime scene. Save one of your phases for a dodge, since people might be throwing cars around.

1xp - when you admit to cute or mild cat-like behaviors.

Tigra Tactics:

Like Squirrel Girl, Tigra's not going to directly wallop a super- villain into submission. But she is an excellent distraction, and very sneaky, and can certainly keep a villain's attention on what she wants while Hawkeye or Vision take the killing shot. Also with yor special brain, enemies that use mental attacks will usually fail to affect you, and you can surprise them with that fact.

STAR-FOX ROLEPLAY ITEMS:1 XP When a friend charges into trouble, and you decide to follow them in order to keep them from getting into even more trouble.

3 XP When you take stress or suffer a complication while trying to keep the friend you followed into danger from suffering harm.

10 XP When you either decide to leave your troublesome friend to their own fate, or you finally resolve the danger that threatens them and you deliver them to safety.

STARFOX - Casanova, Honorable, Insatiable Wanderlust

Psych Master , Tech Geek , Cosmic Expert , Limit: Weakness for the Ladies. Get extra points and step up mental and emotional stress or complications from females.

1xp - when you flirt with a super-villain during battle.

WASP TACTICS:

Your attacks, though tiny, hurt most everybody. You can nickel and dime pretty much anyone right into the hospital. Since you are more fragile than the average Avenger, you should use your main power often: stay small and not get shot. If you can pull if off, you may augment your punch with your flight speed and your growth momentum to really konk someone by assuming full size like right under their jaw. You are quite adept at shooting guns right out of a thug's hand.

TACTICS: wild and varied.

THOR ROLEPLAY ITEMS: 1 xp - The first time you protect an innocent in a scene. or When you work Viking Heritage into an argument

2 xp - When you find a non-violent solution to a conflict.

3 xp - When you recover MJOLNIR with a noble, selfless act.

THOR TACTICS

Does most damage when personally hitting enemies with hammer in H-t-H. But hammer has many defensive options also. Thor is not a berserk pounder, but there are times when that's appropriate, especially in the face of trickery. Thor can instinctively block shots with his hammer. Thor is noble, honorable, and talks in an ancient way.

2xp - put another either into (or out of) harm's way.

3xp - when you aid another in Recovery

3xp - when you sacrifice yourself or your goal for the team.

VISION TACTICS:

Use Desolid to avoid combat until you decide to strike. You can usually shut down enemy devices. As a robot, you are immune to many attacks that fell humans, and should not fear walking right into such an onslaught.
