Year 9: Health
Subject Prospectus - Health & PE
Year 9 Health is designed to complement the health component taught within the Phoenix program. It is scaffolded in a way that is will build on the knowledge learnt during health lessons in previous years while exploring new health concepts.
What will I learn?
Students will study topics to help better understand themselves and others around them. In Youth health we explore Healthy and Respectful Relationships, Sexual and reproductive health, Coping strategies and protective strategies and First Aid.
What will I do?
Students will learn about the challenges of relationships and how to navigate and recognise unhealthy beahviours within relationships and where to seek help if needed. Students will participate in hands on and interactive learning focused activities to enhance learning and develop life long skills.
What will this lead to?
Health Insights in Yr 10
Units 1/2 and 3/4 Health and Human Development.
Why choose this subject?
I am interested in preparing myself students further studies and investigations in the area of Health.
I am interested in learning about and obtaining skills that allow me to make informed decisions when faced with challenging situations.
I am interested in learning about the dimensions of health and how they impact on our day to lives.
Duration: 3 periods per week for one semester
