The ability to produce food safely, hygienically and in an appealing manner is an important life skill that can be applied by the student both today and into their future.
What will I learn?
During this elective, students will establish a range of skills that will help support their ability for independence in the kitchen space. Students will explore a range of concepts including Health and Safety, Dietary considerations, the impacts on Australian cuisine, culture and food choice. Students work independently to apply the stages of the design process to create a food product.
What will I do?
Students will gain useful practical skills and knowledge to assist them when producing challenging recipes.
The design process will be applied so students can identify a range of internal and external factors and how these influence their food choices.
Students need to participate in the range of practical activities that support the learning throughout this unit.
What will this lead to?
This unit provides the concepts that are then further developed in Year 10 Food Studies.
