Are you creative? Do you enjoy expressing yourself through art?
If so, Year 8 Art and Design is the perfect opportunity for you to explore and grow your creativity.
Throughout this one-semester program, students engage with a variety of traditional and contemporary art forms. They will experiment with different materials, techniques, and styles, while developing their own unique artistic voice. By following the studio process, students will plan, create, refine, and present their own artworks—building both skill and confidence along the way.
What will I learn?
Students explore the significant role of Art and Design in society and consider how their own creative practice fits within this broader context. They extend their technical skills and understanding through focused application of the art elements and principles.
Throughout the course, students investigate contemporary art practices across a range of media and engage in the design process—Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver—to inform and shape their own artworks.
What will I do?
Students explore a range of art mediums and techniques, which they then apply through the design process to create a poster that communicates a local environmental issue. In addition, students investigate abstract and street art by researching key artists and movements. They apply their understanding of these styles to produce either a collaborative or individual artwork, using visual language to express a message or theme.
